- Requirements for Studying English Online via Audio Conferencing -

Skype free download at http://www.skype.com (Please remember to put your microphone to record.)

and/or

Yahoo Instant Messenger/Windows Messenger

and/or

PalTalk with the following environment:

+ 133 Mhz processor or higher.
+ 32 MB of memory (64 MB recommended)
+ 2 MB video memory (8 MB or higher recommended

+ Sound card. (full duplex recommended but not essential)

[ OS ]	Windows95 or 98 with winsock 2.0 or higher, or Windows 2000,Me,XP. Internet Explorer 4.0 more
[Software]	not required (it will download directly from the net ) free of charge
[Speed]	28.8 modem. Cable AADSL (64k or more)
[Camera]	General USB Camera
[Microphone]	USB camera is not essential for the lesson. A mic and speakers can be replaced by a handset or headset

Please remember that you will need a microphone and speakers or a handset or headset.

First - Get the software: Go to http://www.paltalk.com, download their software, and register.

Second - Adjust your audio: Launch your Paltalk application (using the icon on your desktop). Click on Help and go to the New User Voice Group. People are there at all times of the day to help you adjust your sound and become familiar with the capabilities of PalTalk.

Third - Play around: Visit other groups -- whatever catches your fancy -- to practise.

Doing that should minimize time we have to spend on simple technical matters during the lesson.
